The winners of the “Stories on Umbria” Journalism Award, 2015 edition, are Kieran Mulvaney (International Press Category), Zong Beilei (Video Category) and Claudio Sampaolo (Local Press Category), with a special mention to Elaine Sciolino, journalist of “The New York Times”, Isabella Brega, news editor of Touring, and the italian video maker Giovanni Obligato.
All the winners will be honored in the award ceremony, presided over by President of the Jury Dennis Redmont, to be held saturday 18th of April, during the 2015 International Journalism Festival in Perugia (15 – 19 April 2015).
Kieran Mulvaney, Zong Beilei e Claudio Sampaolo sono i vincitori della VI Edizione del Concorso Internazionale di Giornalismo “Raccontami l’Umbria – Stories on Umbria”, rispettivamente delle sezioni Stampa nazionale e Internazionale, Video e Stampa Locale.
La giuria, della quale è presidente Dennis Redmont, ha deciso di conferire le Menzioni Speciali ai servizi di Elaine Sciolino, scrittrice del “The New York Times”, Isabella Brega, caporedattore centrale di Touring e Giovanni Obligato, video maker italiano.
Istituito dalle Camere di Commercio di Perugia e Terni e inserito stabilmente nel programma del Festival Internazionale di Giornalismo, il concorso premia ogni anno articoli, reportage di viaggio, inchieste, docufilm, servizi web dedicati all’Umbria, alle sue eccellenze artistico, culturali, ambientali, ma anche economiche e produttive.
La premiazione avrà luogo a Perugia, sabato 18 aprile al Centro Alessi di Perugia.

Rome, 12nd December 2014 – Dennis Redmont was awarded a Life Career Achievement Argil prize by the European Union’s office in Rome and the national associations of Journalists of Italy.Redmont was honored for his four decades of work with the AP,reporting from 80 countries,followed by a teaching career at Graduate School of Journalism and Public Broadcasting at Perugia University, and also for his development of Young Leaders in Italy and the United States in his capacity as head of Media and Developmet at the Council for US and Italy.
The citation read: “he trained a generation of professionals during 15 years of teaching, acting as a great mentor and communicator,as well as reporter and correspondent”.
The Argil prize was named after one of the oldest human fossils in Europe , about 430,000 BC, found 20 years ago in a strata of clay at Ceprano, near Rome.
Other honorees of this year’s prize included Giuseppe Tornatore,the film director of “Cinema Paradiso” for his role in spreading Italian culture.
Il 12 dicembre 2014 Dennis Redmont ha ricevuto il premio giornalistico internazionale “Argil: Uomo Europeo” alla carriera.
La giuria lo ha premiato non solo per il suo passato da corrispondente all’Associated Press, ma anche per “aver formato una generazione di professionisti grazie a 15 anni di insegnamento, in particolare alla Scuola Rai di Perugia”. Inoltre “ha sviluppato il programma “Young Leader” del Consiglio Italia – Usa, dimostrandosi grande formatore e comunicatore, oltre che cronista e inviato”.
La cerimonia si è svolta a Roma, nell’Ufficio d’informazione in Italia del Parlamento europea e della Rappresentanza in Italia della Commissione europea. Insieme a Redmont sono stati premiati il regista Giuseppe Tornatore nella sezione “Comunicare l’Italia”; Lucio Battistotti, Direttore Rappresentanza in Italia della Commissione Europea, per la sezione “Comunicare l’Europa – Franz-Hermann Brüner”; Barbara Schiavulli, corrispondente di guerra, per la sezione “Estero”; Silvia Resta, de La7, per la sezione “Cronaca”; Massimo Caprara, dell’Eni, per la sezione “Addetto Stampa”.?A Francesco Giorgino, volto del Tg1, il Premio Argil per la sezione “Televisione”.

Dennis Redmont moderated a panel discussion at Meritas – an established global alliance of independent, full-service law firms – EMEA Regional Meeting, held on October 9-10, 2014 at Westin Excelsior Hotel in Roma.
The panel was titled “Navigating Between Scylla and Charybdis: Can a perilous journey turn into an Italian success story?”
The speakers were Alessia Antinori, Export Manager of Emerging Markets of Antinori S.p.a.; Luca Federico Cadura, former CEO of NBC Universal Global Networks Italia; and Alessandro Pansa, former CEO of Finmeccanica S.p.a.Dennis Redmont ha preso parte al Meritas (prestigioso network internazionale di studi legali) EMEA Regional Meeting, tenutosi il 9-10 ottobre al Westin Excelsior Hotel di Roma.
